Luna Azul Beachfront Condominiums are centrally located along Akumal's Half Moon Bay.  This quiet and gated area is well known for its peaceful relaxed community, great snorkeling, and convenient location for exploring Mexico's Riviera Maya and Yucatan Penninsula.

 

Luna Azul offers 8, two-bedroom, two-bath condominiums, all with oceanside terraces and full ocean views.  We provide a comfortable setting for families and friends looking for bright, well-furnished accommodations at reasonable rates.

The following assessments will apply to cancelations:
  • Reservation cancellation where the cancellation notice is received 60 days or more prior to the date of arrival will be assessed a cancellation fee of 10% of the total booking.
  • Reservation cancellation where the cancellation notice is received 31 - 59 days prior to arrival date will result in forfeiture of 50% of the total booking.
  • Reservation cancellations where the cancellation notice is received 30 days or less prior to the date of arrival are not subject to refund and may forfeit 100% of the total charges.
  • Cancellation for any holiday reservation (Christmas, New Year's, Easter, and Thanksgiving weeks) will result in the forfeit of 100% of the Total Rent.
  • Some property owners will authorize rescheduling or credit towards a future stay. This strictly depends on the individual property owner and can not be guaranteed.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The property was as described and met our needs in every way. The view is spectacular as we were literally steps from the ocean. Everything was clean and well maintained. We were supported well by the management and concierge services. I'd recommend this unit to friends that are interested in an out-of-the-way and relaxing experience. Restaurant choices are limited but the ones nearby are very good. Snorkeling on the private beach was great and nearby were other places where you could see even more turtles, stingrays and many types of fish. Tulum ruins are not far and pickup at your doorstep can be arranged. Bring a supply of US dollars and MX pesos as cash is not always easy to acquire nearby.

Gorgeous Quiet Remodeled Condo on Half Moon Bay

We had a beautiful view in a quiet area. The condo has been recently updated and was beautiful and airy and clean, just like the photos and description. The AC units worked great on the hot days. The provided drinking water was appreciated. The power went out for a few hours when we were there which we knew was a possibility, but it did not cause us any problems. We cooked multiple times and enjoyed using the kitchen. We also spent a lot of time on the deck enjoying the view. It was close to lots of great experiences--snorkeling, scuba, monkey sanctuary, Tulum, etc. The restaurant right down the road was great to have in walking distance. Every time we communicated with the team at Akumal Direct we received prompt and helpful replies. We were delayed and ended up needing a late check in, but that went smoothly. We would definitely recommend this suite!

The best equipped unit we’ve rented at Half Moon Bay. A bit of a struggle with four flights of stairs normally not a concern, however I am awaiting a left knee replacement surgery. You need not be an athlete yet it does require fair amount of stairs. Generally I would want to stay here again once healed & stronger.

This condo was perfect for my husband and I with amazing views right on the bay. Has everything you need. It appears the condo went through a complete renovation. It was absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, we were there during tropical storm Sara so couldn’t do a lot of the things we had planned. Can’t wait to come back and we would definitely stay in this condo again.

This beautiful modern feeling condo was perfect for our family of 6. It was clean, light and bright, and had everything we needed. We LOVED that we had a private beach just outside our condo and Half Moon Bay was AMAZING for snorkeling! Alma, the maid, was so sweet and did a great job. The condo is right in the middle of the bay with restaurants within walking distance in either direction. Our family had a very relaxing week.
The only negative we could find was that the master bedroom bed was extremely firm/hard.

We had a great stay in Akumal. The property was located in a great location close to some great restaurants. the beach was great only downfall is water is a little difficult to get in due to the rock structures

Excellent stay at Luna Azul. We have stayed in another unit on that part of the beach as well. This one was in a great location! A perfect paradise right out the door. Wish we could have stayed longer!!

The property was clean and well thought out. You can't eat the location for snorkelling, swimming and beach access.
The place needs a day with a handyman to fix the minor repairs needed to the bathroom fixtures (taps, mirrors) The unit is more suitable for a family of four than two adult couples - one couple gets a bigger room with closest and the other gets a smaller room with shelves. The close proximity to restaurants and grocery was nice. Excellent view. Air conditioning works very well. The cleaners who come every day to pick up your toilet paper were good. Beds are extremely firm (mattress on a concrete slab.
The plates, cups, glasses and wine glass selection was minimal. If you broke one you have no back ups.

Luna Azul #8 is beautifully renovated, with everything you might ever need. Located at the top of a 4 story building. The views of Halfmoon Bay were amazing.
The beach was racked daily and seaweed picked up. There was always lounge chairs available.
We had maid services every other day. Which was perfect.
Having a concierge was so helpful. David answered all our questions and helped find day trips for us.
The only minus was how hard the beds were and the drains in the showers took a very long time to drain. Very minor complaints.
The only thing I wish is that we could have stayed longer!

We enjoyed a quiet week in Half Moon Bay, Akumal. Communication with Akumal Direct was easy & prompt, check in easy, condo bright, clean and well appointed. We did not need anything. The private beach was steps from the condo and very quiet. We spent most of our afternoons there.

I'd recommend this unit to friends that are interested in an out-of-the-way and relaxing experience. Restaurant choices are limited but the ones nearby are very good. Snorkeling on the private beach was great and nearby were other places where you could see even more turtles, stingrays and many types of fish. Tulum ruins are not far and pickup at your doorstep can be arranged. Bring a supply of US dollars and MX pesos as cash is not always easy to acquire nearby.

This condo was perfect for my husband and I with amazing views right on the bay. Has everything you need. It appears the condo went through a complete renovation. It was absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, we were there during tropical storm Sara so couldn’t do a lot of the things we had planned. Can’t wait to come back and we would definitely stay in this condo again.

The best equipped unit we’ve rented at Half Moon Bay. A bit of a struggle with four flights of stairs normally not a concern, however I am awaiting a left knee replacement surgery. You need not be an athlete yet it does require fair amount of stairs. Generally I would want to stay here again once healed & stronger.

We had a beautiful view in a quiet area. The condo has been recently updated and was beautiful and airy and clean, just like the photos and description. The AC units worked great on the hot days. The provided drinking water was appreciated. The power went out for a few hours when we were there which we knew was a possibility, but it did not cause us any problems. We cooked multiple times and enjoyed using the kitchen. We also spent a lot of time on the deck enjoying the view. It was close to lots of great experiences--snorkeling, scuba, monkey sanctuary, Tulum, etc. The restaurant right down the road was great to have in walking distance. Every time we communicated with the team at Akumal Direct we received prompt and helpful replies. We were delayed and ended up needing a late check in, but that went smoothly. We would definitely recommend this suite!

The beach was racked daily and seaweed picked up. There was always lounge chairs available.
We had maid services every other day. Which was perfect.
Having a concierge was so helpful. David answered all our questions and helped find day trips for us.
The only minus was how hard the beds were and the drains in the showers took a very long time to drain. Very minor complaints.
The only thing I wish is that we could have stayed longer!

We enjoyed a quiet week in Half Moon Bay, Akumal. Communication with Akumal Direct was easy & prompt, check in easy, condo bright, clean and well appointed. We did not need anything. The private beach was steps from the condo and very quiet. We spent most of our afternoons there.

Have stayed at Luna Azul many times and always been pleasant....not this time. As Akumal Direct now seems to have a monopoly on half moon bay the prices keep going up remarkable quick with no apparent correlation to quality of accommodations. This unit was tired and in need of upgrade with tiny bathrooms and showers. I only had one warm shower in 3 days and all my showers the water barely tricked out of the shower head. The bed was old and hard as a rock. Comfort foam mattresses are inexpensive now and fit most peoples comfort levels. The seaweed is rough but that is mother nature not property owners while quality of the units and basic comfort is

The property was clean and well thought out. You can't eat the location for snorkelling, swimming and beach access.
The place needs a day with a handyman to fix the minor repairs needed to the bathroom fixtures (taps, mirrors) The unit is more suitable for a family of four than two adult couples - one couple gets a bigger room with closest and the other gets a smaller room with shelves. The close proximity to restaurants and grocery was nice. Excellent view. Air conditioning works very well. The cleaners who come every day to pick up your toilet paper were good. Beds are extremely firm (mattress on a concrete slab.
The plates, cups, glasses and wine glass selection was minimal. If you broke one you have no back ups.

We only stayed here one night cause we were booked somewhere else already (we flew in a day early). We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious this studio was (we are a family of 5, 3 small kids). The decor was really nice and everything was super clean. We were happy to stay here. Had a cute little closed in patio with a locking door. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if travelling on a budget.

Bodega Sur exceeded our expectations. This unit has been completely renovated with high end finishes. Besides having beach access, this unit has a private enclosed patio that can be enjoyed any time of the day. The unit was super clean, had good quality kitchenware, king size bed, nice towels and linens, new ac unit, high end fan, rainfall shower head and full size fridge. Scott was a great host he stopped by shortly after we checked in to be sure everything was good, and was available if we had any questions. This is no doubt the best bodega in all of Akumal.

Fourth visit to the unit, first in 8 years. Remodeled since then, looks nice, a few problems with layout. Housekeeping did not pick up dirty towels at all, had to pile them up outside our door. Only changed sheets once. Lockbox in a lousy location. Scott stopped by twice, which was nice. Would stay at a bungalow at Playa Caribe next time, they are better looking and have better furnishings.

This is a well maintained studio on the backside of a beachfront building. Walk up a few steps and your toes are in the sand. The space is laid out well and there is a nice private outdoor area to enjoy as well. The kitchen was sufficient with a proper oven. The bed was comfortable and the a/c and wifi both worked well. There was daily cleaning offered and drinking water. I highly recommend this studio for a great value on the beach!

Luna Azul Casitas are always a great choice for those interested in long term rental, for divers or others that plan on spending their visit out and about. This studio efficiency unit has no view, but the beach and great snorkeling are just a few steps away. The unit is clean and comfortable with private bath and well equipped kitchen area that includes microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker, and breakfast bar. This studio comes with a king size bed as well as a full size futon and can sleep up to 3 people. Luna Azul is one of our favorite condominium properties. It has a great central location within walking distance to Akumal's Yal-Ku Lagoon, restaurants and other services. The management here is excellent and always takes great care of our guests. PLEASE NO SMOKING INSIDE KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry. The Riviera Maya is full of natural beauty, places to explore and opportunities for outdoor activities. We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of sargasso that we would love to share with you. There is so much to see and do in this special place, we know that you will have an amazing and memorable vacation!

The toilet seat needs straightening and tightening. The Golf Cart guy charged me for 5 days. I have proof by email I only asked for 4 days. He had me pay the extra day in Cash. loved everything else

Bodega Sur exceeded our expectations. This unit has been completely renovated with high end finishes. Besides having beach access, this unit has a private enclosed patio that can be enjoyed any time of the day. The unit was super clean, had good quality kitchenware, king size bed, nice towels and linens, new ac unit, high end fan, rainfall shower head and full size fridge. Scott was a great host he stopped by shortly after we checked in to be sure everything was good, and was available if we had any questions. This is no doubt the best bodega in all of Akumal.

We only stayed here one night cause we were booked somewhere else already (we flew in a day early). We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious this studio was (we are a family of 5, 3 small kids). The decor was really nice and everything was super clean. We were happy to stay here. Had a cute little closed in patio with a locking door. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if travelling on a budget.

Fourth visit to the unit, first in 8 years. Remodeled since then, looks nice, a few problems with layout. Housekeeping did not pick up dirty towels at all, had to pile them up outside our door. Only changed sheets once. Lockbox in a lousy location. Scott stopped by twice, which was nice. Would stay at a bungalow at Playa Caribe next time, they are better looking and have better furnishings.

We enjoyed our stay here, it was clean and the location was convenient. The wife and I are average sized people and found the bathroom to be a little tight quarters. The outdoor patio was very nice but could use a fan to make the air move. The property manager Alex was super helpful.

This is a well maintained studio on the backside of a beachfront building. Walk up a few steps and your toes are in the sand. The space is laid out well and there is a nice private outdoor area to enjoy as well. The kitchen was sufficient with a proper oven. The bed was comfortable and the a/c and wifi both worked well. There was daily cleaning offered and drinking water. I highly recommend this studio for a great value on the beach!

This location and condo was perfect for our family get together over the holidays. The neighbors were friendly.
This had a well stocked kitchen for a chef, it had all I needed to make nice meals for the family.
The space is very large and well laid out for family time.
The photos didn't do it justice, the space is larger than it looks. The balcony faces sunset and is large with 4 seating areas nicely laid out and furnished.

This is my seventh annual visit at The Rose. Last two years have rented for a month! Love the location, restaurants near by and the beautiful beach!! However, the elevator was inoperable for one week, and being on the seventh floor was very much a challenge!!

This is a great rental unit. They do a great job communicating. They make sure the unit is in great shape and well equipped. We really liked the layout out of the 2 bedroom unit. Perfect for 4 people. Location is on nice section of beach and 10-15 min walk to restaurant area. The pricing is very reasonable. Excellent value.

We love Half Moon Beach in Akumal. Can say enough good things about Adrian, the property manager at Luna Azul. Luna Azul was adequate but a little run down compared to other places we have stayed on Half Moon beach. Also wish you would prohibit smoking even on the balconies abs verandas. It wasn’t pleasant to sit on the beach and have all of the residents of the unite on the first floor smoking non-stop right behind me every day!

we were a bit disappointed that the access into the water was rocky and not safe-I fell while trying to go into the ocean and cut my hand.After rhat incident we always drove to main Akumal beach where there is less surf and sandy access to the one had mentioned this danger to us.We had hoped to just walk from the apartment into the water...
the view was wonderful.The place very well kept up.We stayed in Luna Azul# 4 by the way since it was available at arrival and we realized that the fourth floor meanta lot of stairs to problem with the switch...

We loved both units 7 & 8. They are both on the 4th floor so be ready to walk but that was fine with us. The views were worth it. Akumal Direct was excellent to work with, especially David Placencia. He did everything from finding us tennis courts to getting us covid tests.
Also Sunshine management was very nice, especially Alex.

Wonderful vacation overall. Our condo #7 had issues with water, particularly hot water, but this was addressed in a very timely fashion. Akumal Direct representatives were MORE than accommodating. We would not hesitate to use their services again. Half Moon Bay is absolutely beautiful but a bit rocky.

Great view! We were always very impressed by the maintenance staff, not only in the suite, but also the beachfront--it was the cleanest spot on Half Moon Bay. Very convenient location-middle of the beach on Half Moon Bay. Good snorkelling, beautiful beach, comfortable and clean accomodations. Manager could barely speak English and didn't know how to dial the number to Cancun Airport, which we needed to contact due to 1 piece of baggage not arriving. That was our only complaint.

We have stayed at Luna Azul before- and have always found it nice. The location is great and overall a great place to stay.

We were there only 2 nights...very clean and quite well equipped. I would have preferred beach level rather than the top floor, but otherwise it was very satisfactory.

The room was beautiful and surpassed anything that I/we were expecting. The four of us had plenty of room and were not tripping all over each other. It was like a home away from home. Can't wait for next January!

All 16 of us, absolutely loved Akumal and Luna Azul. Javier was there when we needed him. We had a toilet issue but it was resolved promptly--no worries!! The staff at Luna Azul was amazing & sooo sweet--even though they could not speak English & we could not speak Spanish Javier was a great translator. I thought this was a regular vacation; however, my boyfriend proposed to me while in Akumal. We are SERIOUSLY considering Akumal for our wedding and will no doubt be using Akumal direct. I cannot say enough about the helpfulness of the ALL of the staff including reservations. My e-mails were answered promptly. Kelly, Lisa, and anyone I forgot...I appreciate ya'll help and look forward to working with you again!!

Luna Azul #7 was perfect except for lack of hot water on several occasions. We could happily overlook that for the killer view, warm sun and out-the-door snorkeling. Getting one of the cushioned chaises required going out at 7:00 am to put down a towel....I guess the "normal" procedure in beach locations?

Oceanfront Penthouse Facing the Caribbean! This fourth (top) floor Penthouse Apartment is ideally located along the white beaches and warm water of Half Moon Bay. Two Bedroom, Two Bathroom, beachside terrace, central air, full kitchen and WIFI!
Enjoy privacy and exceptional views from this fourth (top) floor penthouse unit, centrally located along Half Moon Bay. The beachside terrace is a perfect place to watch the sea turtles, schools of tropical fish, osprey, pelicans, and other marine wildlife. The breezes come off the bay, and all is quiet and private. The unit offers a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, coffee maker, and all appliances needed to prepare meals or enjoy snacks and cold drinks on the beach. Off of the kitchen is the dining area with seating for five. From the living and dining areas, you can enjoy the view of Half Moon Bay through a wall of windows and sliding doors leading to the beachside terrace. The terrace is furnished with a hammock and Adirondack chairs for you to enjoy the breezes and sounds of the surf. To the rear of the unit are two bedrooms. The master bedroom is spacious and private, with a large master bath and king bed. In the master bedroom, there is a large television with DISH Satellite service. The guest bedroom has one queen and a twin bed with a private bath. AC in bedrooms and living area. Luna Azul is one of our favorite condominium properties. It has a great central location within walking distance of Akumal's Yal-Ku Lagoon, restaurants, and other services. The management here is excellent and always takes great care of our guests. NO SMOKING INSIDE UNIT KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry. The Riviera Maya is full of natural beauty, places to explore and opportunities for outdoor activities. We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of sargasso that we would love to share with you. There is so much to see and do in this special place, we know that you will have an amazing and memorable vacation!

This is a great rental unit. They do a great job communicating. They make sure the unit is in great shape and well equipped. We really liked the layout out of the 2 bedroom unit. Perfect for 4 people. Location is on nice section of beach and 10-15 min walk to restaurant area. The pricing is very reasonable. Excellent value.

My family and I stayed for 3 nights over a weekend in early June. Overall, the condo was comfortable and had what we needed. However, the currents seem to bring the sargassum in the bay right to the building. The grounds crew only cleans it up occasionally, making the beach and patio areas unusable. (Other condos on the bay clean their beaches much more frequently.) Apparently, property owners know this because we were the only people in the entire building. I realize that the management company can't control the currents, but they could have cleaned up the sargassum more regularly or been up front about the fact that the beach is unusable during the summer.

We love Half Moon Beach in Akumal. Can say enough good things about Adrian, the property manager at Luna Azul. Luna Azul was adequate but a little run down compared to other places we have stayed on Half Moon beach. Also wish you would prohibit smoking even on the balconies abs verandas. It wasn’t pleasant to sit on the beach and have all of the residents of the unite on the first floor smoking non-stop right behind me every day!

We loved both units 7 & 8. They are both on the 4th floor so be ready to walk but that was fine with us. The views were worth it. Akumal Direct was excellent to work with, especially David Placencia. He did everything from finding us tennis courts to getting us covid tests.
Also Sunshine management was very nice, especially Alex.

After an intensive search, we chose this location for our month long stay in Florida. The location was ideal with easy access to the mainland. The unit and property overall was clean and comfortable. It is mostly an adult complex which suited us fine. Privacy and security was insured by having key entry to the complex and gated entry to the beach as well as a guard part of the evening. There was a designated parking spot for the unit which was convenient; no driving in circles trying to find one. There were two issues with our unit which were remediated the first day of our occupancy. We have already confirmed for the same month next year.

Reflections on the Gulf #205 is in a great location, was quite clean, and a comfortable place to spend a month. The sunset views from the balcony were especially nice. We suggest a larger TV in the Living Room, more dish clothes, towels and small frying pans in the Kitchen, and a hair dryer in the Bathroom.

This year was our 5th year at Reflections in Indian Rocks Beach and the time spent just keeps getting better and better.
Seaside Realty, and our associate Lorri Marshall and very professional and easy to work with.
Our unit is nicely appointed,clean and well furnished with everything you could possibly need.
You can sit on the balcony and watch the sun set directly between the palm tree's that top off right in front of the unit.
We will go back every year.

We have enjoyed Reflections for several years. Location is perfect in this relatively small gulf resort town. Lots of nearby restaurants, bike trails and, of course, right on the beach. Assigned parking, security guard at night and key-only entrances . Beautiful lobby. Seaside Property Shoppe is a always ready to help in case of an emergency. The building is well maintained with excellent maintenance staff. We would recommend Reflections to anybody.

we were a bit disappointed that the access into the water was rocky and not safe-I fell while trying to go into the ocean and cut my hand.After rhat incident we always drove to main Akumal beach where there is less surf and sandy access to the one had mentioned this danger to us.We had hoped to just walk from the apartment into the water...

Great view! We were always very impressed by the maintenance staff, not only in the suite, but also the beachfront--it was the cleanest spot on Half Moon Bay. Very convenient location-middle of the beach on Half Moon Bay. Good snorkelling, beautiful beach, comfortable and clean accomodations. Manager could barely speak English and didn't know how to dial the number to Cancun Airport, which we needed to contact due to 1 piece of baggage not arriving. That was our only complaint.

The view was great. The furnishings and kitchen were nice. A/C was a bit noisey but tolerable. We would go back for the view and the calm bay. You can see turtles in the water from the balcony.

We stayed at Luna Azul the last week in January. The condo was immaculate, spacious, and filled with arty bohemian vibes in an upscale unit. There was no seaweed, just luscious ocean air and the sound of waves slapping the beach immediately below our third story balcony.
It was a short walk to the mini mart, three restaurants and the lagoon. The lagoon was crystal clear with many fish and beautiful grounds filled with sculptures. The Tulum ruins were breathtaking, and our guide, Joel was passionate and knowledgeable. We took the public bus which was dirt cheap, clean and efficient.
Overall, the condo was a 5 star, and we hope to return. It also felt very safe.

“Thanks” to the coronavirus pandemic we decided to stay away from NYC for a number of weeks. Almost accidentally we ended up renting the wonderful unit 6 at Luna Azul on Half Moon Bay, making what was probably one of the best decisions in our lives. Wonderful apartment, wonderful staff, all in a low key safe paradise!

This place was amazing! It was quiet and relaxing - the sounds of the waves put us to sleep each night. There was a lot of seaweed, but that didn't stop us from having a great time! We just had to walk down the beach a short way and snorkeled daily. We didn't have a car; it was a short walk to the general store and a few restaurants within walking distance. Our favorite was La Lunita - it was delicious! The unit is perfect - we will be back!

We very much enjoyed our two weeks at Luna Azul #6. The condo is charmingly decorated, centrally located and an easy walk to 3 restaurants, a mini super and Yalku Cenote. Also only a short drive to Akumal main beach, 2 more markets and several good restaurants. We hope to return next year!

We had a great time in Akumal. The condo was comfortable and a good location. The staff didn't speak much English and wasn't as helpful as I had though they would be. But we had a nice relaxing time. Luna Azul is right on the beach. Great view. Not super luxurious but clean and comfortable. The oven didn't work but other than that the kitchen was adequate.

I have stayed many times in Akumal and Luna Azul #6 is one of the nicest, roomiest condos on the beach. On a quiet morning you can actually see the turtles swim in Half Moon Bay from your balcony.

My family stayed at the Luna Azul #6 for a week in Feb/March and had a wonderful time. The condo was beautifully decorated, even nicer than the pictures on the website. We loaded up on groceries on our way, and had a fun and relaxing time, suntanning, snorkeling out front of our condo, (even better than the lagoon) and checking out some of the nearby attractions. We visited Tulum, Achtun Chen, Coba, and found we had a lot more fun and freedom than our trip the year before to an all inclusive in the same area. We even met the lovely woman who owned the condo as we were departing, and told her how much we enjoyed our stay. The staff were helpful and meticulous, and we felt very well looked after. I would highly recommend this vacation property, we loved it so much we have already planned next year's stay!

Arrived to unit lacking promised DVD player. Management explained that it might be replaced someday. No toilet seat in bathroom (Sure some toilets in Mexico lack seats but this was clearly a case of the seat having broken. Again nothing done to fix.
Broken cabinet door in kitchen. Minimal kitchen equipment. Some broken. Ceiling fans were so loud and wobbly that we did not use them. Missing light bulbs in reading lamps.

Really great unit would have been perfect if maintenance had done the job. One closet full of grout and other repair items. Perhaps they should have done the maintenance before renting unit.

And, renters should be aware that there is no lock box and door locks are simply inadequate for any real security. We propped a chair into room door to secure on windy night. We had no problems but were very uncomfortable with no locking doors and no safe place for valuables.

the place was good, but it was a bit run down in places. The towels were worn out, the beds were pretty comfortable, but it was cooler than previous years and they didnt have enough blankets. The refrigerator wasnt very cold and we were concerned about the food inside. One of the toilet seats was hanging by a screw and had to be fixed. There was a broken window slat that whistled in the wind! The toaster worked on and off. Otherwise it was nice. i think i would try a different condo next time, the location was great. The staff were great and did the best they could.

We enjoyed our winter holiday staying in Unit #6 at Luna Azul. The Akumal area has a community feeling and the views are spectacular. The large windows and patio give you the feeling of being outside even when you are inside, which is lovely. The kitchen has all that you need to prepare meals. All of the rooms are spacious....even the bathrooms...and the decorations are tasteful and give a touch of the local culture. The unit is very clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed being a few steps from the beach and also being within easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants in Akumal. In this gorgeous spot, the beach is not crowded with tourists at all. It is a good idea to have water sandals/shoes because the ocean bottom is not totally sandy. We walked to the lagoon and also to the turtle preserve to snorkel, though saw others in the water to snorkel right in front of Luna Azul. This would be a great spot for a family reunion, renting multiple units and enjoying the area together by preparing some meals in the condos and going out for other meals. (We stopped to grocery shop when driving from the airport to Akumal.)
Regarding shopping, Akumal is pricey. Also, it is somewhat Americanized. However, it is not the touristy partying crowd of Cancun. If you want to experience the Mayan culture and sites (ruins, ceynotes, etc.) this can easily be done through day trips from this location.

Luna Azul Condominium, Unit #6. Fresh, bright and very cute! This third level unit offers exceptional views of Half Moon Bay and the Caribbean beyond. The beachside terrace is a perfect place to watch the sea turtles feeding and playing in the bay, schools of tropical fish, osprey, pelicans and other marine wildlife. The breezes come off the bay and all is quiet and private. The interior is well appointed and very comfortable for guests. The unit offers a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, coffee maker and all appliances that you may need to prepare your own meals or enjoy snacks and cold drinks on the beach. Off of the kitchen is the dining area with seating for five. From the living and dining areas you can enjoy the view of Half Moon Bay through a wall of windows and sliding doors leading to the beachside terrace. The terrace is furnished with hammock and table and chairs for you to enjoy the breezes and sounds of the surf. To the rear of the unit are two bedrooms. The master bedroom is spacious and private with large master bath and king bed. In the master bedroom there is a large television with SKY Satellite service offering programming in both English and Spanish. The guest bedroom is furnished with one double bed and one single bath and enjoys a private bath. AC in bedrooms and living area. Luna Azul is one of our favorite condominium properties. It has a great central location within walking distance to Akumal's Yal-Ku Lagoon, restaurants and other services. The management here is excellent and always takes great care of our guests. NO SMOKING INSIDE VILLA KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry. The Riviera Maya is full of natural beauty, places to explore and opportunities for outdoor activities. We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of sargasso that we would love to share with you. There is so much to see and do in this special place, we know that you will have an amazing and memorable vacation!

We stayed at Luna Azul the last week in January. The condo was immaculate, spacious, and filled with arty bohemian vibes in an upscale unit. There was no seaweed, just luscious ocean air and the sound of waves slapping the beach immediately below our third story balcony.
It was a short walk to the mini mart, three restaurants and the lagoon. The lagoon was crystal clear with many fish and beautiful grounds filled with sculptures. The Tulum ruins were breathtaking, and our guide, Joel was passionate and knowledgeable. We took the public bus which was dirt cheap, clean and efficient.
Overall, the condo was a 5 star, and we hope to return. It also felt very safe.

We very much enjoyed our two weeks at Luna Azul #6. The condo is charmingly decorated, centrally located and an easy walk to 3 restaurants, a mini super and Yalku Cenote. Also only a short drive to Akumal main beach, 2 more markets and several good restaurants. We hope to return next year!

This place was amazing! It was quiet and relaxing - the sounds of the waves put us to sleep each night. There was a lot of seaweed, but that didn't stop us from having a great time! We just had to walk down the beach a short way and snorkeled daily. We didn't have a car; it was a short walk to the general store and a few restaurants within walking distance. Our favorite was La Lunita - it was delicious! The unit is perfect - we will be back!

“Thanks” to the coronavirus pandemic we decided to stay away from NYC for a number of weeks. Almost accidentally we ended up renting the wonderful unit 6 at Luna Azul on Half Moon Bay, making what was probably one of the best decisions in our lives. Great, staff and security friendly, residents were friendly. Really enjoyed our stay. The beach was nice and clean, pool was well kept. Nice view,
Guppy's and PJ's close and very good.
Golf; Seminole lakes and Bardmoor very good. East Bay skip, close but was in bad shape. Use Golf now for deals.
Recommendations:
Bed room ceiling fan noisy and only one speed, may need to be replaced.
Second bedroom toilet seat unstable and needs a commercial seat grade seat.
Beach towels for guests who fly in would be nice. Maybe a normal height beach chair, lower one hard to get out of for older guest. We purchased both, gave the chair to our son and took beach towels home.

The bathrooms are getting rather used. Continuous musty smell. The internet access is very poor. Had to reboot it at least once a day. Could not use the new smart TV because the internet was so slow. The condo itself is very nice and the location and view are great.

We really enjoyed this month in the Indian Rocks Beach. When we booked this condo, we were only going by the web. After staying here a month, we were so pleased. The building was well maintained and clean. The security was wonderful to have on site. You are lucky to have Jimmy!! The condo was clean and inviting. We were glad that there were no personal effects as it made us feel like we weren't intruding on someone else's life :) We do wish that there was a large dutch oven pan or larger pan for the stove...there was only a medium size available. The one problem we had was with the "Router." It was extrememly slow, and therefore all emailing, backing up photos, etc was frustrating. Overall, we LOVED our time in IRB. That is why we chose to come back to this same condo next Jan/Feb as it felt like home. I also liked the book the owners had available, so we could say hello. We could have used one more beach chair as there was only one. Loved the newly remodeled kitchen. The carpet is probably going to need to be cleaned as it looked that way when we moved in. We bought plastic hangers and left them there as there were only a few wire ones. We really enjoyed our time in this condo and just being able to look at the ocean from all views was worth our drive down from Iowa!

Location, location, location this rental had it all! This condo was a wonderful experience. It was spacious and offered an untendered view of the gulf. It was quiet and close to all amenities. What I really liked is that the pool is on the SIDE of the building so your view went right out to the water. I already have plans to rent this again!

the place was good, but it was a bit run down in places. The towels were worn out, the beds were pretty comfortable, but it was cooler than previous years and they didnt have enough blankets. The refrigerator wasnt very cold and we were concerned about the food inside. One of the toilet seats was hanging by a screw and had to be fixed. There was a broken window slat that whistled in the wind! The toaster worked on and off. Otherwise it was nice. i think i would try a different condo next time, the location was great. The staff were great and did the best they could.

We enjoyed our winter holiday staying in Unit #6 at Luna Azul. The Akumal area has a community feeling and the views are spectacular. The large windows and patio give you the feeling of being outside even when you are inside, which is lovely. The kitchen has all that you need to prepare meals. All of the rooms are spacious....even the bathrooms...and the decorations are tasteful and give a touch of the local culture. The unit is very clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed being a few steps from the beach and also being within easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants in Akumal. In this gorgeous spot, the beach is not crowded with tourists at all. It is a good idea to have water sandals/shoes because the ocean bottom is not totally sandy. We walked to the lagoon and also to the turtle preserve to snorkel, though saw others in the water to snorkel right in front of Luna Azul. This would be a great spot for a family reunion, renting multiple units and enjoying the area together by preparing some meals in the condos and going out for other meals. (We stopped to grocery shop when driving from the airport to Akumal.)
Regarding shopping, Akumal is pricey. Also, it is somewhat Americanized. However, it is not the touristy partying crowd of Cancun. If you want to experience the Mayan culture and sites (ruins, ceynotes, etc.) this can easily be done through day trips from this location.

Luna Azul is lovely. Perfect location.
Arrived to unit lacking promised DVD player. Management explained that it might be replaced someday. No toilet seat in bathroom (Sure some toilets in Mexico lack seats but this was clearly a case of the seat having broken. Again nothing done to fix.
Broken cabinet door in kitchen. Minimal kitchen equipment. Some broken. Ceiling fans were so loud and wobbly that we did not use them. Missing light bulbs in reading lamps.

Really great unit would have been perfect if maintenance had done the job. One closet full of grout and other repair items. Perhaps they should have done the maintenance before renting unit.

And, renters should be aware that there is no lock box and door locks are simply inadequate for any real security. We propped a chair into room door to secure on windy night. We had no problems but were very uncomfortable with no locking doors and no safe place for valuables.

My family stayed at the Luna Azul #6 for a week in Feb/March and had a wonderful time. The condo was beautifully decorated, even nicer than the pictures on the website. We loaded up on groceries on our way, and had a fun and relaxing time, suntanning, snorkeling out front of our condo, (even better than the lagoon) and checking out some of the nearby attractions. We visited Tulum, Achtun Chen, Coba, and found we had a lot more fun and freedom than our trip the year before to an all inclusive in the same area. We even met the lovely woman who owned the condo as we were departing, and told her how much we enjoyed our stay. The staff were helpful and meticulous, and we felt very well looked after. I would highly recommend this vacation property, we loved it so much we have already planned next year's stay!

We had a great time in Akumal. The condo was comfortable and a good location. The staff didn't speak much English and wasn't as helpful as I had though they would be. But we had a nice relaxing time. Luna Azul is right on the beach. Great view. Not super luxurious but clean and comfortable. The oven didn't work but other than that the kitchen was adequate.

I have stayed many times in Akumal and Luna Azul #6 is one of the nicest, roomiest condos on the beach. On a quiet morning you can actually see the turtles swim in Half Moon Bay from your balcony.

Luna Azul #6 This unit was beautifully decorated. We also enjoyed the assortment of books available for reading. The location and facilities were all excellent!

wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Es war alles wie beschrieben. Und auch wie auf den Bildern im Internet angegeben. Ein Kritikpunkt gibt es auf das kleine Bad. Der Abfluss von der Dusche hat nachts übelriechende Gase freigesetzt, Das war oft sehr, sehr unangenehm. Ich habe das auch reklamiert. Aber leider hat sich da nicht viel geändert. Ansonsten waren wir sehr, sehr zufrieden auch mit unserem Concierge. We had a great time with our three kids (5-11 years old).
When the sea is calm you can spend the whole day Snorkeling in front of your apartment! You can eat for affordable prices in Akumal or stock up the large refrigerator and cook for yourself. Sometimes there were little ants in the kitchen, which did not really bother us.

Luna Azul is in a quaint, quiet, and beautiful spot. The unit (#5) was perfect, overlooking the beach, perfect for sunrises, with everything you could want. It was decorated in a classic manner that added calm and beauty to the stay. You can walk to restaurants and stores, swim and snorkel in the bay at your doorstep. We had a car, which was needed for us. We walked 2 minutes to the local store for some essentials, and to a couple of restaurants, but mostly were driving to tourist attractions. In Half Moon Bay, we swam in warm, clear water, though with seaweed, the beach was not always easy to walk along, but doable. Snorkeling in the south side of the bay, we saw rays, squid, anemones, urchin, and loads of the gorgeous fish you find on Yucatan reefs. The reefs were in decent shape with varieties of coral, though more of it was just north of the center of the bay. Outdoor showers for rinsing, umbrellas and chairs to enjoy the view from. Pretty, safe, clean, just perfect. The description was accurate in all ways.

We loved out Luna Azul condo and were delighted to find that Akumal hasn't changed since our last visit in 2007. But the best part was Scott Brown, who was absolutely wonderful as a property manager. We weren't too thrilled with the condo we originally booked, but Scott managed to find us other accommodations and let us transfer locations. He was always pleasant and eager to please. We had a great time at Luna Azul #5. The location was great and the staff was helpful and responsive to our needs. We love to snorkel and our experience is that the snorkeling in Half Moon Bay is better than just about anyplace we have ever been. We were disappointed that it was windy (and wavy) during our two week stay, and there was more sargassum stirred up in February than ever before, but that's nobody's fault. Just a reality about the beach. One thing that management can help with: they could use a few more lounge chairs on the beach. There weren't enough for all the guests that wanted them on several days we were there.

It was a very beautiful place to stay, well designed and maintained. Being in the front room, we felt like we were outside! It is right on the beach with gorgeous views. The ocean was fabulous! It’s a little rocky getting in and out, water shoes were a must. We appreciated the privacy. It was very clean and well-appointed. David, the concierge, was available and very helpful. We loved our stay!

Wonderful 2 weeks in peace and quiet. No kids yelling, no volleyball on the beach or loud music...nothing to disturb the wonderful sound of waves and the wishhhhh of palm trees in the wind. We loved every minute and felt it was rejuvenating and mind restoring. We hope Half Moon Bay stays this way.
The only con and the reason for four stars and not five, is the king bed mattress needs to be replaced. One side is softer than the other and I found myself embedded in the morning. I exchanged sides with my husband and the other side is still too soft.
Other than that this condo was perfect for us, the whole staff was lovely and helpful. Convenient location to everything. We would love to go back.

Very clean, an amazing view on the sea. 2 big bedrooms, a nice restaurant 5 Min walking distance. But, there were so many sargassum elk on the beach and the sea, it was disappointing.

We were awestruck by the beautiful sunrises, the gentle waves breaking on our private beach and the balmy weather in December. There were several wondeful restaurants in the area and terrific snorkeling. Esp4ecially liked the lagoon about half a mile away. I would definitely recommend this condo and would go again. The only negative we found was the access road. It was hard to negotiate, but was being worked on so perhaps is better by now. Too many pot holes!

The space is open, cheery, well laid out, and has a wonderful ocean view. It comfortably accommodated dinners for 11 (our family staying elsewhere). A nice breeze flows through the unit, and the sound of waves is lovely. The staff was professional and helpful. Other guests were unnecessarily territorial about the limited beach lounges, which was unpleasant. Overall, we would highly recommend the place.

This was our second stay in Akumal and second stay at Luna Azul. Everything was WONDERFUL! The staff is so helpful. Jorge at Luna Azul was there when I needed him and extra helpful with anything we (about 14 of us at Luna Azul) needed. We will be back. Marieke was also wonderful. She picked up where Leslie left off and was absolutely amazing. The entire staff is probably the best of any place that I have visited.

Great place for a family vacation. It's quiet, but not too secluded. Plenty of services nearby. Good snorkeling just outside the door in the bay. Plus the lagoon is just a short walk away. The Mayan ruins of Coba and Tulum are each a fun day trip. (Just arrive early to avoid the crowds and heat.) The only minor problem was having to open the south window in the living room in order to get internet connection.

We continue to come back year after year because we enjoy the accommodations and the area immensely. The condo is kept clean, we have orioles and warblers in the palm trees off the veranda, we can see turtles and stingrays from the porch and the snorkeling is superb. Throw in some Mayan ruins, the Carribean blue of the water and the sound of rolling rocks on the shore and what more could you want?

Akumal definitely exudes more of an ex-pat versus "authentico" feel, but our family agreed it is the perfect base for a trip to QRoo. The clear and still waters of Akumal Beach lapping up onto the white sand are amazing, as are the shallow snorkeling wonders of Half Moon Bay. And the food! Not nearly enough time to sample all of the exceptional restaurants. Our Akumal favorites were La Lunita (never has grouper been prepared so well as on their Christmas Eve menu & they also win best margarita in Akumal), Turtle Bay Bakery (sticky buns!), Lol Ha (our favorite guacamole on this trip), and Que Onde. As for our condo, a few of the pluses at Luna Azul #5: Location! Sunrise! Clear ocean! Kitchen! Hot water showers! Comfortable beds in spacious rooms! Great restaurants nearby! What I would add if I owned #5: A comfortable chair or two for reading. Improved guest suggestion book with restaurant menus, more detailed recommendations of how-to's, and insider tips. More small rugs. Hints on how to get rid of ants (ouch!). Maps of the area, even if a large wall map. Overall, a lovely place and we were very happy to spend Christmas with our family in Akumal!

This spot was a perfect location complimented by incredible guest management. I wanted a relaxing location where I could spend all day looking and hearing the sounds of the ocean. I got this and so much more. We went snorkeling, rented a golf cart to drive into the little village, and swam/hiked in an underground cave. The nearby restaurants served tasty food. But what stood out was how helpful all of the staff was to help us navigate our trip, get taxi's and transportation, correct our mishaps (lost the key to the golf cart), and be pleasant all the time. The maintenance team kept the place spotless. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect location and experience. Just what I needed & wanted. Thank you.

Before deciding on Unit#5, I did a lot of research. I had preferred a condo with a pool, but this unit and price was perfect. The unit is beautiful and the view and sound of the ocean is unmatched. We were able to walk to a little store, to La Buena Vida and La Lunita. It's located walking distance to the most amazing snorkeling of Yal-Ku Lagoon. We also went to Xel-Ha, Xpu-Ha and the monkey sanctuary. All VERY close. Went to Lol-Ha and listened to a band. Swam with the turtles and went to Puerto Aventuras and Playa Del Carmen. Everything close and easy. The office staff and cleaning staff were wonderful. We rented a car and that was our only initial difficulty(nothing to do with this rental unit) Do NOT use or any other at the airport. After America Rental Cars failed to pick us up at the airport, we called Yes Rental Cars. They provided amazing service for a total of 7 days with insurance and taxes for $315. The night before our trip to Xel-Ha, the car was acting up. I called at 10:00pm and they dropped off an upgraded car by 8:00am the next morning. You definitely need water shoes for most swimming. Miss being there already.

We enjoyed our stay in Akumal. The house was great and looks exactly as shown in the photos. Location is good and near La Buena Vida restaurant and a small market. The staff at the office is very friendly and helpful. The house was very clean, kitchen had everything you need, SmartTV in each bedroom, and blow dryers were available on both bathrooms. I would recommend renting a golf cart as we used it daily to go into the main part of town for breakfast and or dinner. Our only complaint is the beds could be more comfortable in the guest bedroom. We absolutely loved Akumal.

A friend and i stayed at Luna Azul for 8 days. It is the perfect place to chill and enjoy lovely weather, crystal clear water and Mexican hospitality. We asked our maid to only come every other day - though she was supposed to come daily - and she did a fabulous job cleaning.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
Restaurants La Buena Vida and La Lunita are minutes away by foot and offer really tasty food at affordable prices.
All service workers wear masks and hand sanitizers/ temp taking are offered at most restaurants.
The Midway convenience store across from our villa had all the essentials st better prices than the Chomak in town and the chica working there was helpful and very accommodating.
Our only complaint was that taxi prices were inconsistent - we were told a taxi from our villa to Akumal Pueblo would be $10 US (by the guys in the office). We were actually charged $12 one way and $15 the other . When we questioned this (I am fluent in Spanish) they shrugged and basically said “That’s what I charge”, unfortunately making us feel we were being taken advantage of. Another couple staying at Luna Azul said they only paid $7 for the same trip.
Also - the communication I got from Locogringonsaid that the Covid test would be about $17 when it was in fact $44 ��
Overall, a very satisfactory experience. I had been to Luna Azul about 20 years ago and found that particular stretch of beach pretty much unchanged and as lovely as ever.
We didn’t want to travel much outside the resort because of Covid, but I would recommend renting a car if you’re going to spend more than a few days. Akumal is about a mile walk along brick-paved streets and you probably don’t want to do that every day. Akumal Pueblo on the other side of the highway seems impossible to get to without a car. And of course there are so many wonderful ruins, cenotes, and colonial towns to visit as well.

Luna Azul Condominium, Unit #5. This third level unit offers exceptional views of Half Moon Bay and the Caribbean beyond. The beachside terrace is a perfect place to watch the sea turtles feeding and playing in the bay, schools of tropical fish, osprey, pelicans and other marine wildlife. The breezes come off the bay and all is quiet and private. The unit offers a fully equipped kitchen with a new cooktop/oven, coffee maker and all appliances that you may need to prepare your own meals or enjoy snacks and cold drinks on the beach. Off of the kitchen is the dining area with seating for six and a bar top for 4 more. From the living and dining areas you can enjoy the view of Half Moon Bay through a wall of windows and sliding doors leading to the beachside terrace. The terrace is furnished with a beautiful granite bar and chairs for you to enjoy dinner and drinks with the breezes and sounds of the surf. To the rear of the unit are two bedrooms. The master bedroom is spacious and private with large master bath and king bed. The guest bedroom is furnished with one double bed and one single bed and enjoys a private bath. AC in bedrooms and living area. Ocean views from all rooms in the condo, including the master bathroom. Luna Azul is one of our favorite condominium properties. It has a great central location within walking distance to Akumal's Yal-Ku Lagoon, restaurants and other services. The management here is excellent and always takes great care of our guests. PLEASE NO SMOKING KINDLY NOTE: South winds may bring Sargasso Seaweed to some beaches throughout the Caribbean, including the Rivera Maya. While the situation is hard to predict for each specific week and area, we would like you to be aware as there is the potential to impact the beach and water entry. The Riviera Maya is full of natural beauty, places to explore and opportunities for outdoor activities. We have a great list of activities and adventures completely unaffected by the arrival of sargasso that we would love to share with you. There is so much to see and do in this special place, we know that you will have an amazing and memorable vacation!

Luna Azul was a wonderful place to stay for our short stay in the Akumal/Tulum area. We were able to enjoy the beach, visit cenotes, the Coba Ruins, sail and snorkel with our car.

Der Abfluss von der Dusche hat nachts übelriechende Gase freigesetzt, Das war oft sehr, sehr unangenehm. Ich habe das auch reklamiert. Aber leider hat sich da nicht viel geändert. Ansonsten waren wir sehr, sehr zufrieden auch mit unserem Concierge. We had a great time at Luna Azul #5. The location was great and the staff was helpful and responsive to our needs. We love to snorkel and our experience is that the snorkeling in Half Moon Bay is better than just about anyplace we have ever been. We were disappointed that it was windy (and wavy) during our two week stay, and there was more sargassum stirred up in February than ever before, but that's nobody's fault. Just a reality about the beach. One thing that management can help with: they could use a few more lounge chairs on the beach. There weren't enough for all the guests that wanted them on several days we were there.

Luna Azul is in a quaint, quiet, and beautiful spot. The unit (#5) was perfect, overlooking the beach, perfect for sunrises, with everything you could want. It was decorated in a classic manner that added calm and beauty to the stay. You can walk to restaurants and stores, swim and snorkel in the bay at your doorstep. We had a car, which was needed for us. We walked 2 minutes to the local store for some essentials, and to a couple of restaurants, but mostly were driving to tourist attractions. In Half Moon Bay, we swam in warm, clear water, though with seaweed, the beach was not always easy to walk along, but doable. Snorkeling in the south side of the bay, we saw rays, squid, anemones, urchin, and loads of the gorgeous fish you find on Yucatan reefs. The reefs were in decent shape with varieties of coral, though more of it was just north of the center of the bay. Outdoor showers for rinsing, umbrellas and chairs to enjoy the view from. Pretty, safe, clean, just perfect. The description was accurate in all ways.

We loved out Luna Azul condo and were delighted to find that Akumal hasn't changed since our last visit in 2007. But the best part was Scott Brown, who was absolutely wonderful as a property manager. We weren't too thrilled with the condo we originally booked, but Scott managed to find us other accommodations and let us transfer locations. He was always pleasant and eager to please. Akumal Direct is the best!

We had a great time with our three kids (5-11 years old).
When the sea is calm you can spend the whole day Snorkeling in front of your apartment! You can eat for affordable prices in Akumal or stock up the large refrigerator and cook for yourself. Sometimes there were little ants in the kitchen, which did not really bother us.

Very clean, an amazing view on the sea. 2 big bedrooms, a nice restaurant 5 Min walking distance. But, there were so many sargassum elk on the beach and the sea, it was disappointing.

Wonderful 2 weeks in peace and quiet. No kids yelling, no volleyball on the beach or loud music...nothing to disturb the wonderful sound of waves and the wishhhhh of palm trees in the wind. We loved every minute and felt it was rejuvenating and mind restoring. We hope Half Moon Bay stays this way.
The only con and the reason for four stars and not five, is the king bed mattress needs to be replaced. One side is softer than the other and I found myself embedded in the morning. I exchanged sides with my husband and the other side is still too soft.
Other than that this condo was perfect for us, the whole staff was lovely and helpful. Convenient location to everything. We would love to go back.

It was a very beautiful place to stay, well designed and maintained. Being in the front room, we felt like we were outside! It is right on the beach with gorgeous views. The ocean was fabulous! It’s a little rocky getting in and out, water shoes were a must. We appreciated the privacy. It was very clean and well-appointed. David, the concierge, was available and very helpful. We loved our stay!

A friend and i stayed at Luna Azul for 8 days. It is the perfect place to chill and enjoy lovely weather, crystal clear water and Mexican hospitality. We asked our maid to only come every other day - though she was supposed to come daily - and she did a fabulous job cleaning.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
Restaurants La Buena Vida and La Lunita are minutes away by foot and offer really tasty food at affordable prices.
All service workers wear masks and hand sanitizers/ temp taking are offered at most restaurants.
The Midway convenience store across from our villa had all the essentials st better prices than the Chomak in town and the chica working there was helpful and very accommodating.
Our only complaint was that taxi prices were inconsistent - we were told a taxi from our villa to Akumal Pueblo would be $10 US (by the guys in the office). We were actually charged $12 one way and $15 the other . When we questioned this (I am fluent in Spanish) they shrugged and basically said “That’s what I charge”, unfortunately making us feel we were being taken advantage of. Another couple staying at Luna Azul said they only paid $7 for the same trip.
Also - the communication I got from Locogringonsaid that the Covid test would be about $17 when it was in fact $44
Overall, a very satisfactory experience. I had been to Luna Azul about 20 years ago and found that particular stretch of beach pretty much unchanged and as lovely as ever.
We didn’t want to travel much outside the resort because of Covid, but I would recommend renting a car if you’re going to spend more than a few days. Akumal is about a mile walk along brick-paved streets and you probably don’t want to do that every day. Akumal Pueblo on the other side of the highway seems impossible to get to without a car. And of course there are so many wonderful ruins, cenotes, and colonial towns to visit as well.

We enjoyed our stay in Akumal. The house was great and looks exactly as shown in the photos. Location is good and near La Buena Vida restaurant and a small market. The staff at the office is very friendly and helpful. The house was very clean, kitchen had everything you need, SmartTV in each bedroom, and blow dryers were available on both bathrooms. I would recommend renting a golf cart as we used it daily to go into the main part of town for breakfast and or dinner. Our only complaint is the beds could be more comfortable in the guest bedroom. We absolutely loved Akumal.

This spot was a perfect location complimented by incredible guest management. I wanted a relaxing location where I could spend all day looking and hearing the sounds of the ocean. I got this and so much more. We went snorkeling, rented a golf cart to drive into the little village, and swam/hiked in an underground cave. The nearby restaurants served tasty food. But what stood out was how helpful all of the staff was to help us navigate our trip, get taxi's and transportation, correct our mishaps (lost the key to the golf cart), and be pleasant all the time. The maintenance team kept the place spotless. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect location and experience. Just what I needed & wanted. Thank you.

Before deciding on Unit#5, I did a lot of research. I had preferred a condo with a pool, but this unit and price was perfect. The unit is beautiful and the view and sound of the ocean is unmatched. We were able to walk to a little store, to La Buena Vida and La Lunita. It's located walking distance to the most amazing snorkeling of Yal-Ku Lagoon. We also went to Xel-Ha, Xpu-Ha and the monkey sanctuary. All VERY close. Went to Lol-Ha and listened to a band. Swam with the turtles and went to Puerto Aventuras and Playa Del Carmen. Everything close and easy. The office staff and cleaning staff were wonderful. We rented a car and that was our only initial difficulty(nothing to do with this rental unit) Do NOT use or any other at the airport. After America Rental Cars failed to pick us up at the airport, we called Yes Rental Cars. They provided amazing service for a total of 7 days with insurance and taxes for $315. The night before our trip to Xel-Ha, the car was acting up. I called at 10:00pm and they dropped off an upgraded car by 8:00am the next morning. You definitely need water shoes for most swimming. Miss being there already.

We so enjoyed our week at Indian Shores. The condo was well stocked with everything we needed (except a blender!). The pool & hot tub were clean & wonderful to have. We also enjoyed sitting on the dock. It was truly a short walk to the beach with our own path! We will be back!

Quiet Waters truly was "quiet". Very nice complex with a nice pool and patio area (with gas grill and a corn hole area) and easy beach access across the road. This particular unit met our needs. The kitchen was not overly well stocked dishes wise. Living area was a good size. Both bedrooms were clean and larger than we expected; comfortable mattresses. Bathrooms were clean. Washer and dryer in unit.

Overall cleanliness though was not impressive. Carpets are in need of a serious clean, kitchen cabinets interior were kinda grimy, most dishes had to be washed before used. We did notice the sliding door wouldn't lock upon arrival and they sent some one first thing the following morning. Easy communication with Seaside Property Shoppe. If you are planning to come here you need to bring extra paper towels, toilet paper (if staying several days). There were no washcloths, only towels and hand towels. Would be nice to see these things provided along with more dishwasher tablets.

Beach was not a busy area. We liked that the unit is away from shops and restaurants directly but they're within a 2-3 mile radius.

We would stay here again if the unit had a good deep clean, cleanliness was the only disappointment.

Kitchen tap should be replaced as it leaked. It's a little rusty. The shower head in the master bathroom should be cleaned with CLR so that the water comes out better. The exhaust fan in the second bathroom needs to be cleaned. Finally, the patio doors should be fixed a litle better so that they can lock better and make sure that the end pieces stayed locked and don't move from their fixed position.

We continue to come back year after year because we enjoy the accommodations and the area immensely. The condo is kept clean, we have orioles and warblers in the palm trees off the veranda, we can see turtles and stingrays from the porch and the snorkeling is superb. Throw in some Mayan ruins, the Carribean blue of the water and the sound of rolling rocks on the shore and what more could you want?

Akumal definitely exudes more of an ex-pat versus "authentico" feel, but our family agreed it is the perfect base for a trip to QRoo. The clear and still waters of Akumal Beach lapping up onto the white sand are amazing, as are the shallow snorkeling wonders of Half Moon Bay. And the food! Not nearly enough time to sample all of the exceptional restaurants. Our Akumal favorites were La Lunita (never has grouper been prepared so well as on their Christmas Eve menu & they also win best margarita in Akumal), Turtle Bay Bakery (sticky buns!), Lol Ha (our favorite guacamole on this trip), and Que Onde. As for our condo, a few of the pluses at Luna Azul #5: Location! Sunrise! Clear ocean! Kitchen! Hot water showers! Comfortable beds in spacious rooms! Great restaurants nearby! What I would add if I owned #5: A comfortable chair or two for reading. Improved guest suggestion book with restaurant menus, more detailed recommendations of how-to's, and insider tips. More small rugs. Hints on how to get rid of ants (ouch!). Maps of the area, even if a large wall map. Overall, a lovely place and we were very happy to spend Christmas with our family in Akumal!

This was our second stay in Akumal and second stay at Luna Azul. Everything was WONDERFUL! The staff is so helpful. Jorge at Luna Azul was there when I needed him and extra helpful with anything we (about 14 of us at Luna Azul) needed. We will be back. Marieke was also wonderful. She picked up where Leslie left off and was absolutely amazing. The entire staff is probably the best of any place that I have visited.

Great place for a family vacation. It's quiet, but not too secluded. Plenty of services nearby. Good snorkeling just outside the door in the bay. Plus the lagoon is just a short walk away. The Mayan ruins of Coba and Tulum are each a fun day trip. (Just arrive early to avoid the crowds and heat.) The only minor problem was having to open the south window in the living room in order to get internet connection.

We were awestruck by the beautiful sunrises, the gentle waves breaking on our private beach and the balmy weather in December. There were several wondeful restaurants in the area and terrific snorkeling. Esp4ecially liked the lagoon about half a mile away. I would definitely recommend this condo and would go again. The only negative we found was the access road. It was hard to negotiate, but was being worked on so perhaps is better by now. Too many pot holes!
